Columbus International Program‘s Executive Director Mark Poeppelmen and Chinese Business Development Coordinator, Jiyu Jia took a trip to China in the beginning of October. Their stops included our sister city of Hefei and our sister state of Hubei.
While in Hefei, Mark and Jiyu met with our counterpart Becky Liu and Shen Yekui, the Vice Director of the Hefei Development and Reform Commission. They discussed potential collaborations and the success of the Columbus- Hefei Sister City relationship. They also had meetings with the Hefei Municipal Government Water Authority and discussed potential programs and ideas to help with the pollution control of Lake Chaohu.
It is important for GCSCI and leaders from the Columbus community continue to reach out to our sister city of Hefei, China and press on with valuable dialogue. Carrying on discussions of clean water access and programs to ensure environmental quality help both Columbus and Hefei by exchanging ideas and best practices. Sister Cities strives to grow and foster relationships like ours with Hefei and ensure environmental quality that will benefit its Citizens and increase our understanding of the situation.
