Paganini Violin Exchange
Greater Columbus Sister Cities International, with the generous support of Columbus City Council, Commune di Genova, the Harold C. Schott Foundation, Greater Columbus Arts Council, Columbus Symphony, Columbus Museum of Art and CAPA, is proud to host this Italian national treasure in Columbus from May 11-19.
This is the first time since 2003 that the prized instrument has been in the United States. The violin is a fragile and irreplaceable instrument that represents one of Italy’s most celebrated and beloved artists. Highlighting the importance of this exchange, the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, will lead an official delegation accompanying the violin and representing Genoa in Columbus.
Music Director Rossen Milanov with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, featuring Concertmaster Joanna Frankel performing on the “Il Cannone” violin, will present a concert dedicated to the cultural exchange between the two sister cities. The concert will be held at the Ohio Theatre on Wednesday, May 15. In addition, “Il Cannone” will be on display for public viewing at the Columbus Museum of Art from May 11–19.
