Join us as we travel to our Sister City of Curitiba to learn about their state-of-the-art bus rapid transit (BRT) system. Columbus and Curitiba established their sister city relationship in 2014. Curitiba is most known for establishing the world’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, which to this day, is one of the most heavily used, yet low-cost, transit systems in the world. They have been internationally recognized for their sustainable and innovative urban planning and infrastructure development.
Through exclusive meetings and site visits, we will learn their best practices and policy practices that helped to institute this system, and how this impacts healthcare, quality of life and affordable housing for their residents.
This delegation, which will be co-led by Columbus City Council President Shannon G. Hardin, and Franklin County President Commissioner Erica C. Crawley, and is headed to Curitiba, Brazil from January 21 – 28, 2023.
The cost to participate in this program is $5,500. This fee includes flights, hotels, in-country ground transportation, meals and a one day visit to Rio De Janeiro. The final payment will be due on December 15, 2022!
